Void Fundraiser Video
This is a documentation of the Void Zine Drop 4. Shot on a handycam and a little all over the place, but this is the first documentation of what one of these Void events feel like. This is the first time I ever used this camera, and so it documents discoveries like night vision and being unable to zoom out once zooming in. (Hence the close up of Celeste and Shai-Li in the final screen). It's dorky and lovable and authentic which is very true to how Void spaces feel. First performance was Prismer, the second was Shai-Li, the third was poet Zoey Rayes, and the final performer was Celeste with support from Shai-Li.

VOID ZINE IV
Queer Artist Edition

Void Zines are made quarterly to document submissions made to The Void in physical format. They are collaged by hand, scanned then printed at Rad Riso. They are $10 sliding scale and are meant to celebrate the local artists featured within them and help pay Haley, Zola and Juan for the work we do to keep this project running.

WHAT IS THE VOID?
WHAT DOES THE VOID DO?
We provide information on local shows and events. We highlight the creative work of locals as well as document the Kalamazoo DIY scene.
We host art, music, field recordings, photos, videos reviews, writing, etc. on the website. We record interviews with local artists and post them on our YouTube. We create zines and sell them at events celebrating those who have contributed to The Void.
OUR TEAM
Interviews are curated by Ellie Van Der Laan, who graduated with a degree in journalism from WMU in 2022, the same year she created The Void.
Interviews are filmed by Zola Crow, who graduated from WMU with a degree in film and Spanish in 2023.
Currently, we do all this work for free. We are donation-based and hold fundraising events and sell zines to keep this project afloat.
OVERVIEW
The Void is meant to host anything you throw at it. Any creative work you wish to share can happily coexist with the creative work of others in our community. We often are the first publishing location for a lot of local artists. We operate as a website and youtube primarily and create zines quarterly.

If you would like to be featured on The Void or contribute in some way, you can use this contact form. You can also DM me on instagram @thevoidzoo, or email thevoidkalamazoo@gmail.com
